Cusp
Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt.

The cusp is either of the pointed ends of this crescent moon. Isn’t this a marvelous picture? I’ve always been fascinated by the moon: The lore, the legends, and later the science and just the pure beauty. We were newly married in 1969 when the USA made its first moon landing. I thought it was one of the most exciting things I’d ever seen.
So, what is it to be “on the cusp” of anything, in terms of our lives? It’s to be on the threshold, or verge, of a development or action. Picture an Olympic diver poised on the very edge of the board, up on his toes, arms extended as he bounces once, twice, three times. . . .he’s on the cusp of what he hopes is his best dive ever.
Sometimes it’s like being on the horns of a dilemma.
Two people who are just acknowledging their burgeoning love for one another? They are on the cusp of a whole new life together.
Of course, it isn’t all sunshine and roses. Sometimes we’re on the cusp of a most difficult time in our lives that we’d rather just skip completely.
By the way, one of the points on a molar is also called a cusp.
English. You gotta love it.
I absolutely love the opening paragraph of your story, it would make a beautiful story!
