Abby hummed as she worked: Just a song at twilight, when the lights are low. . . .
Her mind was always full of memories, but lately they’d been running like a movie in her mind. Meeting Abe for the first time. . . .their first kiss. . . .wedding. . . .honeymoon. . . .babies. . . . graduations. . . . .marriages and grandbabies. . . . . .Abe’s final illness, robbing his body of mass and strength. . . .their final kiss goodbye. . . .
She stopped. Hummed “when the flick’ring shadows. . . .” She took her last breath, and went to Abe smiling like a bride.
Dear Linda,
Such a bittersweet story. Thank you for the song. Lovely.
Shalom,
Rochelle

In many ways sad, but still there is a warm feeling of comfort in your story.

Exactly what I was hoping would come across. As I age, dying and death don’t seem so much like the Boogy Man, you know? A life well-lived is its own kind of reward.

Linda, it wasn’t until the end that I realized what was going on. What a perfect way to go, and knowing she will be reunited with her dearly departed.

Thanks, Thomas. I was pleased to see you, too, after a long absence 🙂 Any exciting news to report–anything being published?

I had a screenplay on Warner Brothers desk. Spoke to them. They were interested. Pandemic killed it. Not sure if I’ll get that lucky again.

Oh, that’s a shame. I remember when you started working on that. Rotten Covid 😦

May the twilight of transitions, in the path we will all make, be as peaceful for all of us, when the time comes for us to take.
