Zing and Zang sat on a porch step, gazing high up into the sky.
“What on Earth!” Zing exclaimed.
“No idea,” replied Zang.
“Earth people are weird,” said Zing.
“Got that right,” said Zang.
“Well, after our latest narrow escape, I guess we can’t say much. Good thing we can teleport. That was a MESS when the Leaning Tower crashed!”
“Yup.”
I’m back, but I don’t know for how long. Things are a bit hectic around here, with my son and his wife staying with us. Finding quiet time to write is difficult. They went South this week to be with J’s mom for her birthday, so I have a little more time to myself. I’ve missed being here! I think this is the longest I’ve been away since I started with this prompt several years ago. Good to see you all again 🙂
Welcome back, Linda. And, yay! A Zing and Zang!

Hope you’re enjoying having your family with you, though I know how extra people might disrupt the quiet lifestyle we get used to at this age. 🙂
I’m totally agreed with Zing and Zang. People are apt to do the strangest things for art sake. Near Montreal there was an old dead elm in a field near the highway and one spring an artist decided to tie “leaves” on the tree. He cut out hundreds of leaves from plastic pop bottles and spent days tying them on. Months later there was a storm and the extra weight pulled the old trunk down. C’est la vie.

o have, as you say, the quiet life we’re used to.That’s quite a story, Christine!
Yes, we are enjoying them. I wouldn’t change a thing, really. But it is really nice to have, as you say, the quiet life to which we have become accustomed.

Some people bring joy when the come to visit, others when they leave. I sometimes wish I could teleport like Zing and Zang.

Me too! Just get me OUT of here!

Visitors are a mixed blessing as we get older. I’m just getting used to being on my own – it’s been six months now – and I think I’d resent the intrusion for more than a few days.

Dear Linda,
I can see where Zing and Zang are coming from when it comes to humans. 😉 Good to see you back. 😀

Great to have you back, Linda. Crashed the Leaning Tower – wow! Zing and Zang had better keep a low profile for a while (although I hope they don’t!)

Some things are best not to ask about. I’m with the aliens on this one.
Breaks often help with creativity. Enjoy the time off, L. 😀

Nice to see you and Zing and Zang back. I know how you feel, my daughter and her husband moved in with me last August until December. That was the plan–they are still here!

Oh dear. I know that’s not the intention, but OH, DEAR!

Nice to see you and them again. I doubt they’ll ever understand us, I’m not sure I do!

Glad you’re back and hope you find a way to keep coming back, Linda. I had forgotten the close call Zing and Zang had at the tower. Happy they got out and are enjoying their adventures.

Thanks. My intention is to get back on track here. I’ve really missed the writing as well as reading everyone else’s stories.

I’m waiting for that leaning tower to crash also.

I believe it has been shored up a couple of times over the years. Someday, though, the inevitable will happen 😦

The lads are back! Shame they toppled the leaning tower, but it had to happen sometime!

These two get into everything and luckily out of everything. Teleporting comes in handy. Cute tale.

Thanks! I HAVE to keep them alive! I don’t think I’d be welcome here without them 🙂

Of course you would, but don’t kill them… 😳 They could always get back to their planet, couldn’t they, if you need them to retire for a bit.

Yes. In fact, it seems to me I did that once.

They’re so right. Earthlings are getting weirder and weirder. Fun story with these two again. I hope you can squeeze some more moments for writing once your family returns. I’ve discovered that once you let the practice slip, it’s a struggle to get back into the right headspace for writing.

Yes, it is. I’ve managed to keep up with my daily Bible study blog, but I wear headphones and play music while I do it!

I haven’t read a Zing and Zang story since before my hiatus of a couple of months. It’s good to see them back in action, pondering the oddities of humanity.

And darn, what a good question. I don’t understand the shoe thing either!

Yes, I introduced them some time ago. You can find all the Zing and Zang stories under “Categories” on the right side of the page, way down at the bottom of the list.

Thank you! I like your writing style, it is not at all easy with short stories.
