Zing and Zang loved technology. They had a deep interest in the projects over which Earth people labored. The projects seemed primitive to them, but they had to admire the dedication Earth’s scientists had for creating their antiquated machines.
“Zang, what do you think this is going to be? It looks to me as if it’s nearly finished.”
“I’m not sure,” said Zang. “Looks as if they’re trying to find ways to bring light into their buildings, but what a complicated way to do it!”
“For sure. I wish we could help them.”
“We can’t.”

That dratted prime directive again!

We could do with some smart technology exchange 🙂
As long as they don’t harm us!
If they are so smart, they can figure some way to share their knowledge, no?

You’d think so, but maybe doing so would upset the time continuum or something 🙂

They would if they could, and that’s nice!

Dear Linda,
Perhaps we’d be better off if Zing and Zang could help us. 😉

Maybe, but it could create big problems, too, if we’re just not up to speed 🙂

I love the way you describe a telescope as a way of bringing light into a building. That is of course exactly what it does, and yet it seems an incongruous way of describing it. Which makes it humorous, and gets your story 5 smiles out of 5!

What a fun Zing and Zang story. Maybe they remember their own history? Surely they didn’t come into existence all smart and full of knowledge…? Giving us a little hint won’t be so bad, we so desperately need it. They can do it to save the planet, no? Please? 😉

We’ll have to see what kind of directives they receive from Zirkon 🙂

they couldn’t help out? why not? 🙂

Their job is just to gather information. It’s all they’re authorized to do. I don’t know what kind of trouble they could be headed for if they cross that line. They don’t like to talk to me about that 🙂

I wonder what Zing and Zang would have though about Thomas Edison’s many attempts to create a light bulb!

Zirkon watching us, but why. Perhaps the stories that are sent back, brighten Zirkons.

Zirkon is the home planet for Zing and Zang. They’re very scientific types there, not much for feelings and emotions.

Interesting to think there are ETs watching us fumbling along but not allowed to help us. Neat story with my 2 favorite FF characters.
