“You have a distorted view.”
“What’re you talking about? I’m just taking a selfie.”
“Exactly.”
“Well, that sure explains a lot,” said Joe, sarcasm clear in his tone.
“It’s in the name, Joe. Self is the center. Everything in the room is distorted around you.”
“I’m just sharing my place with my friends! What’s wrong with that?”
“Nothing. Just turn around and snap the room.”
“But–having myself in there shows the connection.”
“You have yourself in every single photo you post. It’s all about you.”
“I get tons of likes!”
“Right. All about you.”
One of the several reasons I dislike cellphones

Dear Linda,
There are those who make everything about themselves, aren’t there? Well done.

Yes. And we all know who they are, and soon ignore them.

I know someone like that. Trying to help her with her cell phone one day, I accidentally deleted a photo of herself holding a doll. It took her a long time to forgive me for that.

The heights of narcissism indeed. Great take!

The selfie is the worst invention since social media. They give everybody the tools to exhibit their self-centeredness.

Great dialogue in this — really natural.

Thank you so much. Making dialogue natural is something I’ve been working on.

That’s the way it is today with some people today. Good story.

The truly stupid thing is that people take pictures incessantly of such droll drab ordinary things as if they’re milestones…Good story

You are so correct, we all live in a -me , me , me, world.

It doesn’t matter unless you have a photo it seems. A very sad time we are living in. I enjoyed the dialogue, Linda.

The obsession some people have with their own self is ridiculous!

There’s a song by the Eagles with a line, “It’s a certain king of fool that likes to hear the sound of his own name.” I think the same is true of selfies.

It’s a sick symptom of the electronic age.

Exactly, Linda, narcissism is rife today

Oooh, harsh, Linda! Your narrator certainly takes Joe apart! It’s a good, well-written diatribe against obsessive selfie taking.

Thank you, Penny. And I like it that you said “obsessive” selfie-taking. Nothing wrong with it until it’s ALL a person can take pictures of!

Unfortunately it’s too common a problem. Even when people take pictures of other people, and things, lately, it’s always about pointless trivial things and circumstances that don’t matter
