RDP #65: BORBORYGMUS
noun
technical
noun: borborygmus; plural noun: borborygmi
-
a rumbling or gurgling noise made by the movement of fluid and gas in the intestines.
********************
I had my teeth cleaned on Thursday. It’s a quick and painless procedure, but I was rather embarrassed about halfway through the process when a very loud and prolonged borborygmus issued from my gut.
The dentist and the dental assistant had a hard time containing their laughter.
In fact, they didn’t contain it. I couldn’t join in, though, because the dentist was busily scraping away.
Good grief.
Awww, Good thing we can create humor out of our embarassing moments, because when we blog them, we have a chance to laugh at them later (when we’re not red and have out mouth hanging open with instruments). Laughing with you (not at you! really!)

Ha! My sister had it happen the other way. The dental assistant kept having to leave the room. At the end when she came back in she asked where were we…in the home stretch! Thanks for the fun memory.

Been there; done that . Or at least my stomach did. 😦
But what a humongous word for “gas rumbles”!

That has happened to me too! We were all very dignified, everyone pretended it never happened.

I appreciate so much your kindness in offering this nomination. I hope you won’t be offended that I have made my blogs “award-free.” It was taking up a lot of time, and while I am always honored to be recognized, I just don’t have that kind of time. Thank you, though, and God bless.

What a wonderful word, although not one that will crop up often in conversation 🙂
