(We’re back from our trip to South Dakota. The flight home was tiring. You can read about it here if you like. Anyway, I should be able to read all posts this week. I was surprised at how much I missed being able to do that! And–I thought this was a good prompt for bringing Zing and Zang back into play 🙂 )

“All those arches make me dizzy,” complained Zing. “Why do earth people make their buildings so huge? Wasteful, it seems to me!”
Zang gave him a long look. ‘You know, Zing, it seems you can find nothing to do but to complain, lately. Just look at how beautiful the sculptures are! Look at the detail in those arches! Look at the tasteful way the plants are used indoors! I LOVE this place!”
“You two just make my tired ache,” grumbled Zinnia. “Why I drew this assignment, I’ll never know. NOT my lucky day!
Zang is going native!

Ha! Yes, I think he’s becoming “humanized.”

I can see why Zing would think such huge buildings are wasteful — funny how totally normal things look alien to, well, aliens. Zang seems to be enjoying the trip, at least!

Thanks, Joy. Sometimes beauty is more important than practicality.

Zing seems to be in something of an ill humour today. No wonder Zinnia is getting fractious.

Thanks, Sandra. I think Zinnia must have done something wrong at home to get this particular assignment 🙂

Good to know aliens are divided by the art world, just like humans!

Poor Zinnia. Maybe she’s fallen “out of favour” to land an assignment with these two 🙂

I love their take on the buildings. Brilliantly written.

A good insight! Sometimes space is wasted by the desire for beauty. On the other hand – how beautiful is that space? Kudos.

Haha! I feel like you can make Zing and Zang a classic duo. One optimistic, the other pessimistic. Nice story!

Perhaps Zing enjoys nitpicking. 🙂

It would seem so, but very few people enjoy being WITH nitpickers 🙂

They enjoy it because it irritates those around them. A conversational depravity. 🙂

Dear Linda,
Zang’s the only one with a good attitude. Zing and Zinnia could learn from him. Cute story.

This leaves me smiling – love the developing voices, and it’s good to know that Zang appreciates the efforts to create beauty even if Zing is underwhelmed. I see Zinnia as the older sister fed-up now with looking after her younger brothers.

Yes, that pretty well sums it up. Z & Z need to remember who’s in charge, though 🙂

I’m with Zang. If I were Zinnia, Zang wouldn’t make my tired ache like Zing.

Zing sounds like my son when I take him to a museum – if I can get him in a museum these days! Made me smile

Art is all in the eye of the viewer. It’s nice that they all have an opinion and veture to express it.

They would not be satisfied if they didn’t have each other to bicker about. This is great, you perfectly show a different (alien) view of things that are completely normal to us. Zing is correct, but so is Zang who has a different understanding of wastefulness and art. I’m still not fond of Zinnia. 🙂
