“This is. . . . . .sad,” remarked Zing. “It has been neglected. Why do you want us to stay here?”
Peony was patient. “Because it’s neglected. No one knows who owns it. No one does any upkeep. The yard is overgrown, the house needs painting, and the windows are so dirty no one can see what’s going on inside. It’s perfect.”
“But, Peony, you can see there is no power for lights, or cooking. Or heat. What about that?”
“You two are going to need to learn to trust me. If you’ll cooperate, I promise I’ll tell you my Zekonian name. Follow me.”
Peony has a matter transducer. Of course she has

Zing is right, there are certain standards, a bit of luxury wouldn’t go amiss! 🙂

Dear Linda,
Peony knows how too get what she wants, doesn’t she? As long as she doesn’t require them to spin straw into gold. 😉

She’s stalling…
Probably because she is the Grand Poobah of Zekon…

Oh boy, wonder what Peony has up her sleeve. I hope it’s a power source so they can have some heat and some dinner!

I reckon you’re enjoying lecturing Zing and Zang through Peony! Just look at her, handing out lessons in tradecraft for alien observers. What fun!

Yes, it is fun 🙂 Bringing in an ongoing third character was a very good idea.

Zing and Zang need to be careful. Peony seems to be taking over, step by step, I worry about her intentions. I guess that I will just have to stay tuned to find out

Let us all follow her inside so that we get to know her real name. Although to be honest, I am not entirely trustful of her intentions right now.

Most of you, the readers, feel distrustful of Peony.
Time will tell 🙂

So curious what her name is now …
Great story.

So she’s going to wave the modern equivalent of a wand?

Perhaps. We know these aliens have some degree of “magic” because they can go invisible. It will be interesting to find out what else they can do 🙂

I remember places like these from my students days and issues like squatters rights, which came to mind reading this until I reached: ” Zekonian name”.
Very intriguing. I like it.
Best wishes,

Hmm. Peony’s Zekonian name, or a nice place with lights, a microwave and Netflix. Decisions, decisions!

The nice place wouldn’t be much of a hideout, though. Apparently Peony thinks they need to remain icognito.

Exactly what I’m aiming for. I’m so surprised at how this has developed, from the first post, which I never intended to become the start of an ongoing adventure. But I really like Zing and Zang, so forward we go!

You have it right. There are many who don’t trust her yet. They will 🙂

The adventure continues, I wonder if you string all these flash stories together we will get a novel? Fun read.

It’s been suggested more than once. Might be fun to write narrative that links them all and makes sense 🙂

That’s a lot of trust to commit to. I’d want proof she can supply the power before I agreed to anything

Zing and Zang really are pretty trusting. I hope they won’t regret it 🙂

I’m sure Zing and Zang are resourceful enough to cope without power. From distrust they seem to be heading towards over-reliance on Peony.

Must be something about her that draws them. After all, she’s followed them to several different places now.

Z and Z better be careful. Anyone who says: “trust me” is trouble.
