“Baskets?”
“Hats?”
“Neither,”said Peony. “Earth people like to make odd designs and use them for decorations”
“How do you KNOW this?” demanded Zing. Who ARE you?” His antennae quivered with both fear and indignation.
“I am Peony. I am from your planet. I have been looking after you, protecting you. You are both very innocent. Too trusting.”
“What is our planet’s name? Who is our Leader?” asked Zang, doubting.
“Zekon, of course. And our Leader is Zedion the Great.”
“But your name—it starts with that “Puh” sound. Not a Zekonian name.”
“It’s for undercover work, Silly!”
Aww. And I thought Peony was going to be an Earth friend

Not with the ability to be invisible. At least, I don’t think any of us earthlings can do that. . . . can we?

I’m with them on this, odd designs for no reason other than they look nice.

Ah, now we know where they come from. I love these two… peony is still a bit dubious. But they are right, humans are strange.

Thanks for your comment. Peony? She’s ok 🙂

Dear Linda,
Well I’m glad we got that settled. Wonder what Peony’s real name is. 😉 Cute story.

I have to figure that out, don’t I? Apparently it needs to start with a “Z” 🙂

I’m still not convince Peony isn’t a double agent. Nice continuation on the theme!

Nah, Peony’s okay. You’ll see 🙂

We, earthlings, can be invisible. At least there are some who think they are and other who treat others as if they were.

So she’s been protecting them all along? I never saw that coming! Nice twist on your ongoing story

Well… if she’s protecting them and from their planet, she should have given her real name… You “say” she’s okay but we’re just not sure… Yet. 😉

Peony’s right. Earth people certainly do like to make odd designs and use them as decorations as evidenced by my “Full English Breakfast” fridge magnet. Classy or what?

I’d like to see that magnet. It must be a fairly big one 🙂

It’s only about two inches in diameter. I’ve bought it for a friend who has just taken UK citizenship. I think even the shopkeeper was surprised that anybody would buy it :))

Peony is doing a good job. Zang has already started to learn caution from her, and he asks two good questions to establish her credentials.
Nice story again, Linda!

Haha! Peony is an undercover Zekonian! Very clever and the story deepens! (BTW, my husband and I often tell little stories about the planet Zirton. I wonder if it’s in the same galaxy?) 🙂

Probably–in the Z sector, right?

Lovely. Will they believe Peony or whatever her Zirtonian name is.

Great job, Linda. I agree with Peony that Zing & Zang are a little naive and too trusting. Once they encounter a politician or two it will shake their faith in the human race.

Probably not. They’re pretty shy, so I’m thinking they’d go to invisible mode 🙂

She seems to know a lot more than they do. Maybe they should go home and she can finish the survey, or whatever it is they’re here for 🙂

Yes, we Earthlings do use a lot of odd items as decorations.

Wonderful to seethe meeting of Zing, Zang and Peony. Considering how naive they’ve been in the past of humans, their distrust of Peony stands out well. Love her voice in her last sentence to them – can see the knowing/ mocking smile.
