Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt
******************
It has been said that the music of your teen years stays with you more than any other music. Must be true, as these one-word prompts so often make my memory go right to a song that was popular when I was a teen growing up in Portland, Oregon.
I loved the voice and the songs of Connie Francis. Here she is:
Her voice is amazing

She was a sad woman, lots of dysfunction in her life. Too bad, because she really did have a remarkable voice.

Yes, I believe she suffered a sexual assault and never really recovered, although I think she became more of an outspoken advocate for victims rights. I just looked her up. It’s quite a life she’s lived so far. She’s 78. Here’s the link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connie_Francis

Thanks, Sunny. It’s been a long time since I read about her–didn’t know she was still alive. I’ll enjoy reading the article.

I agree! The songs of our childhood/teens do linger with us forever! My kids would laugh at me as they were growing up because they said I could associate everything with a song – which I would immediately break into!
We had a slight generational break with this one, though! You remember Connie Francis singing it. I remembered Marie Osmond!😀

Marie has had staying power, that’s for sure. Connie struggled terribly with depression.

I had another friend tell me she thinks of Marie Osmond for that song. She’s just about 20 years younger than I am 🙂
