Blindly

Terrified, Elizabeth groped blindly through the inky darkness. Her heart pounded, her hands trembled. Her breath came in short gasps. She felt as if she were falling into an endless black hole with no hope of rescue. How she hated the dark!
Nauseated from being turned round and round, vertigo making her stumble, she finally felt a solid wall. She had no idea where she was, but at least there was something she could feel. And then—she heard the giggles of the other little girls, and they were coming from her right. Wall on her left, giggles on her right. Ha! She knew!
Placing one foot carefully in front of the other, groping with the tail she held in her right hand, she finally found her target.
And she pinned the tail on the donkey!
Love it!

We celebrated our granddaughter’s 11th birthday yesterday. She loves horses, so we played pin the tail on the horse 🙂
