Here is the prompt photo for Friday Fictioneers, credit to Sandra Cook:
“What is it, Mommy?”
“I’m not sure. I know it’s a cog wheel, but I don’t know its use.”
“The wood is big and thick, Mommy.”
“Yes. If your daddy were here, he would know what this does.”
“What does the white post do?”
“It looks as if it holds up the whole structure, doesn’t it? “
“What’s a cog wheel?”
“It’s a wheel with tabs that connect with another cog wheel. When the tabs connect, the wheels keep turning.”
“Why?”
“So you can ask me lots of questions.”
HAhahahaha…..the last line!

Congratulations. I don’t know what I would have come up with for this picture? Maybe someone hid… Whoops! Better go sign up. 🙂

Dear Linda,
I’m pretty sure I had that conversation with my sons when they were little and gave the same answer. Nice one.

This would be an interesting way instead of the usual birds and bees … OK, well, maybe not.
But, STILL … a very realistic conversation. I enjoyed it very much, Linda.

I have four grown children. They were all inquisitive. Now I have nine grandchildren who inherited WHY from their parents 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the piece.

I like the image of a parent, and a child talking. Thank heavens for inquisitive children, they certainly keep us on our toes.

Thanks. I agree. I was a teacher for a long time–loved kids who always wanted to go another step farther 🙂

The “Why” stage seems like it will never end… my neighbour’s daughter was such a pain, we nicknamed her “Emma-Why”!

I understand that. I did come up with a question that my kids learned to recognize ended the conversation: “Asked and answered.” No further comment were welcomed.
