Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt.
I’ve always found it rather amusing that the most stubborn people in my life (that would be just about my whole family!) have at some point accused me of being stubborn.
Well, no duh!
There are only two choices when you’re part of a family of opinionated, argumentative, gotta-be-right people. You can cave and be everyone’s patsy; or you can be stubborn right back, and if you get good enough at it you’ll be able to stand up against them and win a few rounds yourself.
Now, don’t misunderstand. This is not to say I hate my family. I don’t. I love them all.
I still think it’s funny when one mule-headed person angrily accuses another mule-headed person of being stubborn, though. It’s funny that no one really acknowledges his own stubbornness. It’s the other person who won’t budge, after all.
So yes, I can be stubborn. It’s in the gene pool. I also have a strong sense of humor, and it’s probably a good thing. A little humor can save the day.
Before I quit this morning, I want to say that there is a difference between just being mule-headed and refusing to back down from something you strongly believe in.
The former is annoying to other mule-heads. The latter is a mark of character.
It takes one to know one.
