Bendover Robot

World’s Best Widget

You’ve been granted magical engineering skills, but you can only use them to build one gadget or machine. What do you build?

Well, my answer to this one is not glamorous or novel.  It .comes from having reached the point in my life in which I hate having to bend over and stay that way for any length of time.

I would build a machine that can make beds, clean tubs and toilets, mop and sweep floors, take laundry out of the washer and dryer, and locate pans and other things that hide in the bottom shelves of cabinets.  It would eliminate any need for me to bend.

I would market it to everyone to has a herniated lumbar disk or two. Anyone with degenerative disk disease or stenosis.  It could be on one of those annoying TV ads that sells new gadgets and always says “BUT WAIT!! If you order right now, we’ll send you a second one absolutely FREE!!”

  1. Let’s think BIG here, Linda. You need to invent some kind of electronic device that treats and cures — or replaces — herniated discs. Or something that relieves the effects of arthritis by reducing inflammation and dissolving the calcium that collects around the joints and stiffens them.
If you’re like me, you’d rather bend yourself than watch some machine do it, although any kind of robotic maid that would give me more time for reading and writing would be most welcome. 🙂
