Keeping up with the Jones’
Tell us about the one luxury item you wish you could afford, in as much detail as you can. Paint a picture for us.
First of all, I wish WP and Wordy would get someone to proofread their stuff. Jones‘ isn’t correct no matter how you slice it, unless someone’s name is Jone. Then you could add the —no, you couldn’t. It would have to be Jone’s to make it possessive. Anyway, the correct form here would be “Keeping up with the Joneses,” making it simply plural. There is nothing possessive about it. If you want to make it plural, you would say something like “I like the Jones’s cat.” Which I wouldn’t say, because I generally don’t like anyone’s cat.
Second, no, there is no luxurious item I crave. I’m content.
Well, I did just think of something. I really dislike housecleaning. Maybe I’d hire a maid service.
