Companionable

Head to one of your favorite blogs. Write a companion piece to their penultimate post.

*****************

I have a longtime friend who writes a wonderful blog called The Shepherd’s Presence.  Her penultimate (next-to-the-last) post is here.  And I’m really scratching my head about a companion piece to this, but I think I’ve finally settled on pulling up an old story as a portrait of my own father.   You can find it here, and I really hope you’ll take the time to read it. It’s one of my favorites of all the stories Dad used to tell about his childhood, a real-life event in the Utah desert during the 1930’s.

DAD

P.S.  I just realized that the picture I have of myself at the top of this post was taken when I was about the same age as my dad was when this photo of him was taken. Wow.  That sure snaps things into perspective.
