Enough, Already!

Write a summary of the book you’ve always wanted to write for the back cover of its dust jacket.

No.  We just did this one a couple of weeks ago.  You can see my response here.

So let me tell you a story I DON’T want to write.  The story of my poor aching back is a continuing saga.

Today I’m having an MRI to evaluate for a herniated lumbar disc.

Ok, that’s enough of that.

This past weekend I spent two full days learning to treat migraines with EMDR and some simple manual head compressions.  I’m very excited to use the technique to help some of my clients who have terrible headaches.  Fascinating, and the thing I like best is that the intervention is medication-free.

Ok, that’s enough of that.

Some old friends who now live in South Carolina came up this weekend to visit several people.  They stopped in on us last night, and Pete is coming tomorrow to help Terry lay the ceramic tile in our kitchen.  His timing couldn’t have been much better.  Step by step, the job is getting done.

Ok, that’s enough of that.

The sunburn I got on the Gulf is peeling.  Isn’t that exciting?

Ok, that’s enough of that.

See, these prompts are supposed to get us unstuck if we’re stuck, but when they keep repeating the same stuff over and over, it gets me stuck.

And that’s enough of that!

  1. Enjoyed your response even if it was a mite unorthodox. I’m surprised that you have only one book you want to write; I have about four floating around in my head and will have to choose one!
(Unfortunately writing the dust jacket copy or even a lengthy synopsis isn’t the same as actually writing the book — which is exactly why I haven’t written the books yet. 🙂

    1. Well, my word. Yes, I was annoyed. This one is worded a bit differently than the one two weeks ago, but it’s the same thing. And then I see that they ran it about 2 1/2 years ago, as well. Wordy better watch out. He’s going to be losing friends. I love everything else about WP, but I really wish, especially for the sake of those who have been doing this for 2-3 years, that they’d stop with the old prompts.

I’ve sent in a few suggestions myself, and I think they were pretty good 🙂

      1. I agree. And I especially don’t like this particular recycled prompt. Writing a summary for the jacket is, for me, the worst, most tedious part of writing a book.

Maybe you should host a daily prompt of your own. Hmm…. I wonder how you set up a pingback grid….
