If you could be a “fly on the wall” anywhere and at any time in history, where and when would you choose?

The very first thing that came to mind was to be a fly on the wall when God created Eve. But I don’t suppose they had walls yet, so maybe that won’t work.
Second thought? I’d love to have been there when our American Constitution was ratified and became the law of the land. What a momentuous time in history! Or maybe even better, to have been there when all those brave men signed the Declaration of Independence. 
Knowing they could (and many did) lose everything, including their lives, they believed so strongly in personal freedom from the tyranny of monarchy and totalitarian government that they were willing to sign what, for some, turned out to be a death warrant! Brave men.
We need some like that today.

That would be a pretty cool thing to experience. I think somehow we have forgotten what it cost our forefathers when they decided to rebel.

When I was looking for a picture for the post, I saw an article titled “Was the Declaration of Independence Illegal?” Well, duh. Of course it was if your name was King George III. And I’d like to point out that the option of a peaceful dissolution of the relationship between England and America WAS offered and refused. The British king had no desire whatsoever to lose what were becoming financially lucrative colonies. Too bad for him, his greed got in the way of his (questionable) good sense 🙂

Will be teaching US Constitution this fall, and I can’t wait, it is one of my favorite classes to teach. I wish it was required in High schools, but that might interfere with politically correct garbage about how horrible Americans are and how we should lose out identity and become “world citizens”. Ooops. I am ranting. I love when Ben Franklin stops the convention and asks that they all go to pray and find out what the “Father of lights” would have us do, oh that our President today would do that!

When I taught U.S. Government in high school, I always looked forward to teaching the Constitution. The kids groaned at first, but then most of them caught the fire.
