What Memories do Aromas Bring?

Tell us about a sensation — a taste, a smell, a piece of music — that transports you back to childhood.

Let me count the ways:

Tide detergent

Liquid starch

Breck shampoo

Ajax cleanser

Skippy peanut butter

Bread baking

Beef roast on Sunday

Jergen’s hand lotion–smelled like cherries

Lilacs, although today they make me sneeze

Rain on hot concrete sidewalks and streets

Wet leaves in the fall

The complete lack of any smell on a cold winter day after a fresh snowfall

Grass being mowed

The upholstery in my dad’s car, circa early 1950’s.  Don’t remember what kind or what year the car was, but it was fabric, not plastic, not faux leather.

Whatever Dad used on his hair.  Probably Vaseline Hair Tonic.

I could go on for a long time here, but I need to go to work sometime today.  Enjoyed the trip down memory lane, though.
