Fool’s Lake

My first effort at Mondays Finish the Story.

2015-02-09 - BW Beacham

Finish the story begins with:  “Dropping her line into Fool’s Lake, she patiently waited for something to bite.”

Dropping her line into Fool’s Lake, she patiently waited for something to bite. She’d baited her hook with a fat worm, despite her disgust with that process. She’d been told no one could catch fish in Fool’s Lake, and she was always willing to accept a challenge.

Suddenly, the calm blue water erupted like a tidal wave, rocking the dock and throwing her off her feet to land painfully on her tailbone.  Her rod was pulled out of her hands and went flying off into space.

Her head reeling, she was shocked into utter stillness by the booming voice that said, “Nice try, Fool. Nice try.”
