Big Mouth

Locked and Sealed

Can you keep a secret? Have you ever — intentionally or not — spilled the beans (when you should’ve stayed quiet)?

I walked into the school office that morning and noticed one of the secretaries was visibly upset about something. When I asked if there was anything I could do, she told me what was wrong and pleaded with me not to say anything to the other person involved.  Of course, I told her I wouldn’t.

I went on my way to my classroom, and the first person I saw was, of course, the other person involved. After “good morning,” the first next words out of my mouth were  just exactly what I wasn’t supposed to say.

Horrified, unable to believe what had just come pouring out, I turned on my heel and went right back to the office to confess what I had done. What a mess. I don’t think the secretary ever forgave me.  I still don’t know why that happened.  I’m usually very good at keeping secrets.  Still makes me cringe just to think about it.

Blah.  I don’t like this prompt.

    1. It’s awful to feel guilty again after SO many years!

I actually thought today’s prompt was fun. Could have taken it so many different ways. And even when i don’t like them, I try to come up with something. Stretches my thinker 🙂
